Story

You're a hero looking for an old magic book, deep in a dungeon. You are unaware of the dangers lurking down there.

How to play

The crosshair turns green, if you look at objects of interest, and it turns red, if you facing an enemy. Every special ability you use, consumes mana. You can increase your total mana or life pool by finding better gear.

Use Item: E or Right Mouse
Drop Item: G
Quick Heal: H
Quick Mana: M

The inventory

You come across several items, like weapons, armor or potions etc. during the game. These items can be used to improve your character.

Game in development

This game started as a school project and is currently in an early access state. The game is limited, but still completable. 
In this early access version, only the Spell Caster options are available. Melee and ranged combat options and weapons are unavailable for the time being. They will be added later.
Likewise, you may find interactable loot boxes, which doesn’t have anything inside. I am working on an “auto generate loot system”, which will be implanted at some point.
Bugs and grammar mistakes are unavoidable as well. Please let me know if you notice anything unusual.
Great feedback or suggestions are of course very much appreciated.

I'm going to keep an eye on this, since it's the kind of game I like, but right now I can't even hit the rat with the firebolt.  it just shoots into the floor and does nothing.  :/

Thank you for playing. The reason you have problems hitting a rat, is because the spell projectile spawns lower than the crosshair. You will have to aim a little bit higher, for now.

I am aware of this issue, and I’ll fix it as soon as possible.

*Update* I have fixed it already. New version is up.

Nice!  It's much better now, I was actually able to complete the game this time.  Some additional feedback:

The wand charges pretty slowly.  I would consider either making it charge faster or having an attack option that doesn't require charging, like maybe even just a swipe with your arm that does minimal damage but can push enemies back.

There's not much hit confirmation on enemies (though I usually could tell that I hit anyway).

The three spells you get are different enough to be interesting, and I LOVE the huge explosion and commensurate cost of the Fireball.

Sound design is great, I especially like the sarcophagus sound effects.

I really hope to see more of this!

I’m very pleased to hear you were able to complete the game, and had fun doing it.

It’s on purpose the wand is slow. My plan is that the player needs to find better equipment in the future, which can increase the cast speed etc. Also adding points into magic will increase the cast speed. Good idea with the swipe though. I might consider that.

The enemies are going to have a health bar at some point. That should help the player.

And yeah... I have a lot of plans with the project. This is just the beginning.

I found the tomes of ascension a fresh start to an indie game I loved the texture to the whole dungeon design was well done. i am impressed on the whole design also I wanted to mention the auto-aim when attacking the rats, and knights could be easily improved.

The tomes are easily accessible and you could add some wacky puzzles, or riddle, just to get the tome near the end of the level for future updates. I even added some fantasy music just to capture the feel of this of the game lastly I just wanted to say there was a very small bug when I picked up the wand but I am looking forward to seeing the full game allan.

Like you said, the game is very fresh. So, it’s missing some elements, and also the game has a lot of bugs & glitches.

I noticed you had some issues, learning the controls at first. I will try make it more clear for the player what to do. Like a mini tutorial.

The spells don’t auto aim. They have some area of effect when they hit. That’s why. I'll try making the spell projectiles spawn a bit higher.
I know the AI is very basic. I want the guards/rats to become more natural. So, they can alert each other if one spot the player or takes damage from the player.

As I already mentioned, I’m currently taking a break from this game for now and focusing on Unaware instead.
